SEENAT | A small-batch ceramics company that operated from 1976 to 2015 in the village of Palojoki in Nurmijärvi
Seenat was founded by Terhi Juurinen, Lea Klemola and Riitta Siira. The distinctive functional ceramics were created by the company itself, including the design and production of the materials. Seenat ceramics, which are cast in molds, are characterized by straight-line, geometric shapes, self-mixed glazes and the unique wood-fired ceramics created later by Terhi Juurinen. Seenat ceramics have been exhibited in several exhibitions and tableware is in the collections of the Design Museum. The company was awarded the State Prize for Applied Arts in 1978. In addition to tableware production, Seenat has created the impressive ceramic tile reliefs on the platform level of the Helsinki Railway Station metro station.
